The Fleece Inn at Bishop Wilton is a lovely country pub near York. They’ve recently refurbished throughout for a modern country feel. They have a car park and beer garden. The have a large menu that includes both lunch and evening meals. It’s a country pub with accommodation in a beautiful location that’s very popular with cyclists and walkers. They have a popular beer and gin festival in June.

The Gait Inn, Millington

Millington is a beautiful village high on the Yorkshire Wolds. The Gait Inn is a perfect country pub serving pub classics like steak and ale pie – big portions and excellent quality. They serve a wide range of real ales and wines and have an annual beer festival. It’s family and dog friendly and popular with walkers. Large beer garden and private function room.

Tykes Restaurant

Tykes is around 7 miles from York city centre on the A64 toward Malton. Although not a country pub exactly, it does have a country pub feel. We tried their roast beef Sunday lunch recently and were very impressed. They serve large portions of well cooked food in a comfortable restaurant.

JJ’s Bar and Restaurant can be found at Allerthorpe Country and Golf Club. Although not a country pub, it’s location and the lovely outdoor space makes this a fab restaurant for a drive out. They have a fun, eclectic, American inspired menu with burgers, hot dogs and smoked ribs as well as more international dishes. They have a huge beer garden space, free parking and are dog friendly. Nearby Allerthorpe Woods are perfect for dog walking to work up an appetite!
