Best Steak Restaurants in York – I love a good steak and am really happy that we have some fabulous steakhouses in York. We have some really excellent quality steak restaurants serving local wagyu steak, a very well established Argentinian steak restaurant and a Brazilian Rodizio.
The Whippet Inn

The Whippet Inn is a steak and alehouse with a fine line in seafood too. It’s a bit of a hidden gem, tucked away as it is on North Street, but once you have been you will return. Lovely, friendly staff look after you in a comfortable and relaxed environment with a stylish and quirky decor. The food is fresh, imaginative and great quality.
The menu offers such delights as ‘Picanha- 32 Day Dry Aged, Triple Cooked Chunky Chips, Garlic & Thyme Confit Vine Tomato, Green Peppercorn & Brandy Sauce’, or ‘Poached Sea Trout Fillet with Olive Oil Potato, Puffed Fish Skin, Aromatic Herb Powder, Brown Shrimp Butter & Pea Purée’.

Piccolino is an upscale Italian restaurant situated on Ouse Bridge. They have a good range of steaks from both the UK and Canada. “Specialising in the best steak cuts from around the world, provided by our very own butchers in Cheshire.” Excellent service and attractive décor make this a great Italian restaurant for a special occasion.

Bull & Co is a new American style burger and steak restaurant on Walmgate in York. They serve good quality food in good sized portions. Choose from onglet, rib-eye, sirloin or t-bone or from one of their seven signature burgers. Loaded fries and milkshakes complete the nostalgic American vibe.

The Old House

Just a three minute walk from York Minster, The Old House is a new restaurant from the owners of the award winning Shoot The Bull in Hull. “Join us for a light breakfast, a spot of lunch or an evening meal, choose from our new menu, packed full of locally sourced produce and freshly prepared dishes. Tomahawk will soon be opening a brand new restaurant in Lendal Cellars. “Serving the finest Himalayan salt dry-aged steaks, Wagyu and other great local meat, fish & vegetarian dishes.” I love the sound of the sharing board – 8oz of rump, 4oz of fillet, 6oz sirloin and 5oz ribeye, all sliced and served with two portions of beef dripping chips, two house salads and garlic butter king prawns.
