If you like cosy Italian restaurants (and you haven’t already been) then Enoteca on Bridge Street should be one you put on your list. It’s an independent family run restaurant, and so much bigger than it looks from the outside! There are a series of snug rooms over three floors, and the atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming.
I have recently reviewed Middle Feast who also own this restaurant and they asked if I would like to also review Enoteca (of course I said yes!).
We managed to bag a nice table for two in the window, where we could watch the world go by. As dusk settled, candles were lit on the tables (I do love a candle on the table!), and fairy lights twinkled in the windows. They cater for big groups too with lots of space upstairs.
The website mentions various offers, such student and Blue Light discounts, 2 for 1 cocktails at certain times and an all day set menu.
Make sure you also check out the specials board.
Ok, so on to the food! We shared a starter of BBQ Pork Ribs (Oven baked tender pork ribs coated in barbecue sauce and orange juice). I have to say that it was a good job we were sharing, as, as you can see, it was huge for a starter! A variation of the dish is also available as a main course too – and it was delicious.
Next my husband ordered the freshly made Enoteca pizza (San Marzano tomato sauce, mozzarella, chicken, pepperoni, salami, rosemary and garlic oil).
While I plumped for the Linguini Carbonara. Now, before I ordered I asked if there were mushrooms in this dish (there were not), but I was also told that as almost all the dishes are freshly made (a key exception being dishes like lasagne which of course is made and baked ahead of time) then ingredients can be added or removed to a diner’s preference. I loved this dish, so tasty with plenty of crispy pancetta!
Finally, we shared a dessert. I was very tempted by the tiramisu but we eventually settled on the Caramel Brownie Decadence which was utterly delish – a Belgian chocolate truffle mousse with a melt in the middle caramel sauce that oozed out when cut into!
We finished off with a shot of Limoncello for me and a non-alcoholic lemon shot for hubby who was driving!
All in all, it was a lovely visit, and very popular with lots of people making repeat visits (from what I gathered by being nosy when they came in!). I think that says it all really!
Below you will see more photos of the restaurant itself.
We were invited to visit and review. As always all opinions are my own.
