Lovely, friendly staff look after you in a comfortable and relaxed environment with a stylish and quirky decor. The food is fresh, imaginative and great quality.
The menu offers such delights as ‘Picanha- 32 Day Dry Aged, Triple Cooked Chunky Chips, Garlic & Thyme Confit Vine Tomato, Green Peppercorn & Brandy Sauce’, or ‘Poached Sea Trout Fillet with Olive Oil Potato, Puffed Fish Skin, Aromatic Herb Powder, Brown Shrimp Butter & Pea Purée’.
“The ideal spot for any occasion, The Whippet Inn serves both lunch & dinner, seven days a week, alongside our Main Menu & specials boards we also offer for our legendary(ish) Set Price lunch menu Monday to Friday, plus ‘Lets Get Roasted’ every Sunday, an institution unto itself and one of York’s best kept secrets (so sshhh)”

Slug and Lettuce

Slug and Lettuce does a 50% off food offer on a Monday.
We have two Slug and Lettuce in York, but it’s just the one on Back Swinegate that does the 50% discount offer. Slug isn’t hugely expensive anyway so this makes a great value lunch. Below is a picture I quickly snapped a while ago – we ordered two sharing platters between four. A great place for cheap eats in York on a Monday.
3, Tower Court, Oakdale Rd, York YO30 4YL
Monday-Saturday, a two course lunch will set you back just £7.20 while a three course Sunday lunch £9.90 per head.
The Mulan Chinese Restaurant is not in the city centre – in fact it’s on more of an industrial estate. This does mean very easy parking and a good sized premises, It’s very near the Vue Cinema and Ten Pin Bowling. It’s my favourite Chinese restaurant in York. Courteous service, nice surroundings and excellent food. If you are looking for a lunchtime meal then the lunch special menu absolutely can not be beaten. Monday-Saturday, a two course lunch will set you back just £7.20 while a three course Sunday lunch £9.90 per head.

There are several booths with individual TV’s, plug sockets and USB chargers, making it a perfect spot for a recharge on a lunchtime and great for kids. Great affordable option.
