Looking for Christmas shops in York? We just have two Christmas shops in York now, a huge German Christmas Shop on Stonegate and a smaller but perfect Christmas Shop on the Shambles. York really is the perfect place to stay at Christmas with our festive Christmas Market and our many Christmas events.
But if you can’t make it here at Christmas, you can indulge your desire for Xmas decadence, all year round with a visit to one of York’s Christmas shops! I visited very recently and have lots of photos to share so you can get a real feel for their Christmassy goodies!
Käthe Wohlfahrt
Mulberry Hall, 17-19 Stonegate, York, Y01 8ZW
Käthe Wohlfahrt is a German Christmas shop on Stonegate. “In the middle of the city and only 200 yards from the impressive York Minster, “Mulberry Hall”, one of York’s oldest and most beautiful houses, became the home to a unique Christmas world over two floors. It is worth a visit to the listed building, dating back to 1434, with its splendid Tudor front and a “priest hole” on the upper floor. In the historical rooms, visitors can immerse themselves in a magical Christmas world, with a really wide selection of beautifully handmade and hand-painted Christmas decorations and gift ideas made of glass, wood and much more.”

The Nutcracker Christmas Shop

The Nutcracker Christmas Shop is located on York’s most famous street. There are few places more atmospheric than the Shambles in York, and it’s really a perfect place for a Christmas shop! The Nutcracker Christmas shop sell a variety of tree ornaments, standing ornaments, nativity sets and lots of different themed Christmas decorations. Oh, and if you visit the Shambles at Xmas, be sure to check what time it ‘snows’ for a perfect photo opportunity! (Ok, it’s not real snow, but it looks marvellous and is great fun!). After you have shopped till you dropped, I would recommend a rest and a cuppa at Parlormade Scone House.
