We visited The Marrakesh on Low Ousegate in York for dinner for the first time last year and you can read that review here.

We were recently invited back to review their new lunchtime set menu.

As well as the regular menu you can order two courses from the lunchtime menu for £10.95 or three courses for £13.95. You can see the menu here.

To begin with I ordered my favourite Mojito!

We tried out the Moroccan Mixed Salad which was a beautifully presented mix of cucumber, cherry tomatoes, red onion, parsley and olive oil. I really enjoyed the dressing.

Next my husband and kids ordered the Chicken Kebab Wrap. As well as the chicken this came with salad in the wrap, and fries and a (garlic mayo?) dip on the side.

I ordered the Kofta Kebab Wrap which I have to say I thought was delicious! Again served with fries and this time a spicy sriracha dip.

We then all ordered dessert. This was strawberry ice cream:

Vanilla ice cream:

Chocolate ice cream:

And Cinnamon L’Orange. This wasn’t something I’d had before – sliced oranges on a bed of lettuce covered in cinnamon. Sounds a bit odd but was really nice!

Finally, we finished the meal with some Moroccan mint tea.

At this price for two courses, it really is a great alternative to a sandwich takeaway or fast food place. Especially when it is served in such a beautifully decorated restaurant!
