You will find Pho on Petergate, serving Vietnamese street food. I’d never tried Vietnamese before but I love all types of Asian food so thought it would be up my street, and it was! It’s in a nice cosy restaurant and has a large outdoor seating area at the back, which will be perfect in the summer.
I tried the Homemade pork & lemongrass meatballs with lettuce & herbs to wrap & dip. These were delicious. I was encouraged to wrap the meatball in mint and lettuce before dipping into the crunchy peanut sauce. It was a fab explosion of flavours, very fresh and very zingy!
My friends tried the Pork Spring Rolls (Crispy spring rolls served with lettuce & herbs to wrap & dip.).
As well as Chicken Wings (seasoned, crispy chicken wings served with sriracha).
All the starters were tasty and, I felt were good sized portions. For our main courses we chose Chicken and Prawn Noodles (Wok-fried noodles with all the trimmings, topped with chicken & prawns).
I also tried the Chicken Curry (Rich, fragrant Vietnamese curry with veggies & mushrooms, served with broken rice & chicken). It’s definitely worth trying, lots of different flavours to other curries you may have tried in the past.
On a previous visit I also tried Pho’s signature dish of pho (pronounced ‘fuh’). This was delicious and I loved the fresh herbs that could add to taste.
Would I recommend it? I certainly would. It was colourful, fresh and the flavours were different and delicious.
We were invited to visit and review Pho – as always all my opinions are my own.
