Hotels in York with Parking – York is a small city with lots of historic buildings and so parking is at a premium. Lots of hotels just don’t have the space to have parking.
We have lots of car parks in York and an excellent Park and Ride, but if you are coming by car and staying in a hotel then you are going to want on-site parking. Fortunately there are plenty of hotels that offer it.
I have mentioned below whether they have free parking or whether a charge is involved, I have listed the prices for parking below as a guide, but do check with the hotel in case they change the price. Have a look at our list of York hotels with parking.
York Marriott Hotel – Free Parking
Tadcaster Road, York YO24 1QQ
The York Marriott is around a mile and a half from the city centre of York on Tadcaster Road. It overlooks the Knavesmire and is very close to York Racecourse. Family rooms have two double beds.
The York Marriott is one of the hotels in York with free parking. They have nice leisure facilities with a swimming pool, jacuzzi, beauty salon and sauna. They also have a gym and tennis court.
If you are going from Leeds Airport to the York Marriott Hotel, the most comfortable option is to hire a car with or without driver. It is the best option to drive and explore the city during your trip.

The Grand – Parking Available (£25 a night)
Station Rise, York YO1 6GD
The Grand was York’s first 5 Star Hotel. It’s a beautiful Edwardian hotel in the building of the former headquarters of the North Eastern Railway, with views of the Bar Walls and The Minster. The rooms are plush and luxurious.
The Grand has family rooms that sleep four but can accommodate extra beds or cots too. Robes and slippers provided for every member of the family! Babysitting services available on request. Adjoining rooms are also available for those with older children.
There is an on site spa, with a swimming pool, jacuzzi and steam and sauna, as well as a relaxation room. Beauty treatments are available. The Grand serve an excellent children’s afternoon tea which is definitely worth doing during your visit. Being in the centre of York, there is no on site parking, but the hotel has their own fully secure 24 hour car park that is charged at £25 per night. The luxury hotel is less than a four minute walk from York Train Station.

Novotel, York Hotel with Pool – Parking Available (£13.50 a night)

Middleton’s – Parking Available (£10 per night)

Middleton’s is a “collection of six , Grade-II listed building situated around a secluded in the heart of centre, 900 yards from York Rail Station and York Minster. It offers complimentary access to a fitness centre with a gym. The hotel is 7 minutes’ drive from York Racecourse.”
“We like to make sure our guests feel completely at home when they come for a sleepover with added extras like fluffy bathrobes, flat screen TV, a Lavazza coffee machine and proper chunky biscuits for an afternoon pick me up.
Car Parking access is via a barrier and you will need an exit code from reception. Charges are £10 per night. Spaces are limited and cannot be reserved but we have several local car parks just a few minutes’ walk away should the rare occasion arise that we are full.”

The Principal, York (Parking available for an additional charge)
Station Rd, York YO24 1AA
The Principal York (formerly known as The Royal York Hotel) is an historic Grade II listing building. Built in 1878 and the North Eastern Railway Company’s flagship luxury hotel. It is right next to the York Train Station. The hotel is beautifully decorated throughout in soft shades of grey.
Free WiFi is available through the hotel, and the leisure club includes a sauna, steam room and heated . Try the Twilight Afternoon tea that is served in the Garden Room (one of my favourite places in York). In the summer, Sol Ast takes up residence in the Principal’s gardens, a lovely way to spend a balmy evening.

Grays Court – Parking Available (£15 per night)
Chapter House St, York YO1 7JH
I have a great fondness for Grays Court as it was part of St John’s University when I studied there in the late Nineties. I remember fondly my lectures in these beautiful rooms. It has since been transformed into a boutique hotel with a fine dining restaurant. They won the Visit England Award for Excellence 2020 for Small Hotel of the Year. It’s very central with amazing views of the Minster on one side and the Bar Walls on the other. There are lots of great restaurants and pubs on Goodramgate too.

Hotel Du Vin – Parking Available (£10 per night)

The Hotel du Vin is a bit further out of the city centre than the other hotels mentioned, but still only a ten minute walk to the centre of York. The hotel is within a Grade II-listed mansion house, with classic early 19th century architecture and charm. The Everyman Cinema is just a three minute walk while the Railway Station is a nine minute walk.
