Dyls is a contemporary café & bar situated in the iconic Motor House on Skeldergate Bridge, overlooking the River Ouse and Clifford’s Tower. They serve breakfast, brunch and lunch and also have a fabulous array of cakes. Quirky rooms and indoor and outdoor seating by the river. Try the three cheese and jalapeno toastie on Haxby sourdough – one you will go back for!
Rehab Bar
7-9, Piccadilly, York YO1 9PB
You will find Rehab Bar on Piccadilly. They serve brunch until 4pm, with dishes such as a Full English Breakfast (Sausage, Back Bacon, Egg, Five Beans, Roast Cherry Tomato, Black Pudding Hash, Toasted Sourdough), Pancakes with Nutella and Condensed Milk, Eggs Florentine, Smoked Salmon and Smashed Avocado. They serve hot drinks as well as cocktails. They also have an escape room in their basement!

Parlormade Cafe and Scone House

I visited Parlormade Cafe and Scone House recently and thought it was marvellous. It’s small and cute and quirky and serves the most divine looking scones on lovely bright crockery. The building it’s housed in is 15th century and absolutely perfect for a chat with friends and a relax during your day.

Heavenly Desserts is (as its name suggests) a restaurant dedicated to desserts. “Heavenly Desserts are an established fine dining desserts restaurant, dedicated to providing our customers with the best possible experience to enjoy our award-winning desserts.

200 Degrees Coffee Shop

200 Degrees Coffee Shop is a very recent addition to York. It’s a comfortable, modern space that goes back a long way and has lots of tables to sit at. They serve sandwiches and cake as well as coffee and cold drinks. We visited recently to try it out.

Betty’s Cafe, York

Betty’s Cafe is famous in York for elegant and traditional cafe dining. Uniformed servers treat you with friendliness and diffidence and your tea is served from silver tea pots. A pianist will often accompany your repast! They also serve probably the best afternoon tea in York.
Bennett’s Cafe
Cafes in York don’t get much closer to The Minster than Bennett’s Café. They serve a good varied number of teas, as well as coffee and soft drinks. They also serve breakfast, sandwiches and cakes.

Circles Cafe and Gin Bar is housed in a cute, quirky building (former toll booth!) right on the end of Lendal Bridge, overlooking the River Ouse.
