Award-winning York restaurant The Star Inn The City has launched its new Market Menu, allowing diners to taste a range of delicious new dishes containing the finest locally sourced Autumn-inspired ingredients.

The prestigious brasserie-style eatery, which is the brainchild of Michelin-starred chef Andrew Pern, is commonly regarded as one of the best places to eat in York having scooped a plethora of awards since opening in 2013.

In 2021 the riverside restaurant won an AA Rosette for culinary excellence and the Open Table Diners’ Choice award followed in 2022.

The Star Inn The City also regularly appears in the renowned Michelin Guide and was featured in the 2020 edition of The Good Food Guide.

‘A Little Taste Of The Countryside In The City’

Inspired by the North York Moors produce he grew up surrounded by and started cooking with, Andrew Pern’s mission with the Star Inn The City is to bring ‘a little taste of the countryside in the city’.

Staying true to that mantra the restaurant’s new Market Menu is a celebration of vibrant flavours and the highest quality fresh ingredients sourced from the local countryside.

The new Market Menu boasts a range of exquisite starters for diners to enjoy including a succulent Ham Knuckle & Flat Parsley Terrine and delectable Oak Smoked Organic Scottish Salmon Paté.

The Star Inn The City guests can also tuck into mouth-watering mains from the Market Menu including Yorkshire Moors Reared Beef….’Steak Fritts’ served with garlic butter, dressed garden salad, and green peppercorn sauce. Or fish lovers can sample the fishmongers’ selection of day boat North Sea Produce, served with a delightful English sparkling wine and dill cream.

To satisfy dessert lovers, the Market Menu also comprises a joyous mixture of delicious puddings including a luscious Steamed Sticky Brew York Ale Cake and zesty Crepe Suzette, served with orange liquor, candied orange and fresh vanilla ice cream.

Market Menu Available Until November

The Star Inn The City’s Market Menu is the perfect complement to a special occasion get-together, a business lunch, or a catch up with friends. If you’re out on a day out in York then this charming riverside restaurant is also a must-visit.

Available until November, diners can choose two courses for £20 or three courses for £30, Monday-Friday between 12pm-3pm.

An extensive drinks list, which includes speciality cocktails, teas, coffees, and local ales is also available.

Diner wishing to try the new Market Menu are advised to book a table in advance to avoid disappointment.

The Star Inn The City is located on the edge of York Museum Gardens, close to the historic Lendal Bridge and Tower. The York restaurant is within easy walking distance of York Station. Drivers can also find ample parking nearby.
