The Judge’s Lodging is a beautiful hotel, restaurant and bar in York. They have a fabulous outdoor space to the front of the building.

As well as these cute and private cabins at the back (the last time I visited these needed booking but were free to do so – perhaps contact them before you visit to double check).

Sunday Lunch at The Judge's Lodging in York - Review

We visited recently for Sunday Lunch and Fish and Chips. That is, my daughter and I had Sunday Lunch while my husband and son had Fish and Chips! Now, first off, I must say that the inside dining rooms are beautifully decorated and a pleasure to be in.

I looked around at various prices of Sunday Lunch in York and found Judge’s to be surprisingly competitive, especially considering what a nice place it is.  We went as a family of four.  Two of us had traditional Sunday lunch.  One of us went for roast beef, Yorkshire puddings, roast potatoes and red wine gravy (with no veg!):

Just looked at the amount of roast beef – fabulous!  The other one went for a veggie roast dinner version with butternut squash,  Yorkshire pudding, cauliflower cheese, roast potatoes,  parsnips and carrots.

My husband and son decided to buck the Sunday Lunch tradition and went for Fish and Chips instead.  Served with minted peas and tartar sauce.

The Judge’s Lodging also do Brunch and Afternoon Tea, and are a perfect spot for a pre-theatre dinner, being just a three minute walk to the Theatre Royal.
