Looking for a Greek Restaurant in York? We have a couple of Greek restaurants to choose from as well as more general Mediterranean restaurants that I have mentioned here so you have more of a choice for your Greek food!
Wine Stories
24 Parliament St, York YO1 8RS
Wine Stories is a Greek restaurant on Parliament Street by the team behind the Greek Street Food stall on the Shambles Market. It looks small from the outside and is easily missed but definitely worth a visit.

Taverna Yamas – Greek Restaurant in York with Takeaway
Unit 4 Acomb Wood Shopping Center, Acomb Wood Drive, YO24 3XN
Now, Taverna Yamas seems to be a proper Greek restaurant, out of town in Acomb, though I haven’t as yet been. Offering Greek classics like Calamari and Saganaki, Chicken Souvlaki, Kleftiko, Moussaka and Stifado. You can also indulge in Greek beers like Mythos and Fix. It’s a good place to come for a Greek takeaway too.
The Olive Tree
10 Tower St, York YO1 9SA
Not strictly Greek, The Olive Tree is a Mediterranean Restaurant with some Greek dishes like calamari, Slow cooked lamb with olives, chickpeas and herbs, and Greek salad with feta. “Situated opposite York’s famous Castle Tower, The creation of the Olive Tree came about as a result of a shared passion for food and wine by a few like-minded individuals. That passion includes a determination to source only the very best ingredients and finest quality products. We believe this approach is not only commercially rewarding but also incredibly satisfying of our customers.
Sourcing our ingredients at their peak of perfection means eliminating many suppliers and we have been careful to develop only those who share our polices. Our passion borders on the neurotic when it comes to freshness. Our policy is from the garden, sea and field to the table. This freshness manifests itself in the tastes and smells of the kitchen, there is nothing to beat freshly harvested produce.”
Ambiente Tapas York
14 Goodramgate, York YO1 7LQ
Ambiente Tapas is not Greek at all but is Mediterranean and has lots of tapas, like ‘Salmon & smoked haddock croquettes served with a wild mushroom aïoli’, ‘Blue cheese & caramelised walnut stuffed portobello mushrooms’, ‘Triple cooked sagitta potatoes served with aïoli & spicy tomato sauce’, and ‘Ambiente baked focaccia bread served with olive oil & balsamic vinegar’. They also do a chicken and chorizo and mixed seafood paella.
