We visited The Milner York for a festive afternoon tea this week. Firstly, if you haven’t already heard about The Milner, it is the large hotel next to the railway station that was formerly the Royal York and more recently The Principal. Secondly, what better way to spend a winter’s afternoon than indulging in a festive afternoon tea!
Afternoon tea is served in the beautiful garden room. I absolutely love it in there, it’s beautifully decorated with very comfortable seating and a lovely relaxed vibe.
The Festive Afternoon tea is served throughout December and would make a perfect way to relax after a busy day at the Christmas market. The hotel is also gloriously decorated for Christmas too.
The afternoon tea is festively themed and includes finger sandwiches with options such as roast turkey and cranberry, brie with caramelised onion, smoked salmon, lemon & chive crème fraîche and cucumber, dill cream cheese.
In addition there was a generous helping of hot sausage rolls. When these were brought it was explained that they contained chestnuts. Now, I dislike chestnuts but if you also dislike chestnuts, please try the sausage rolls as they were delicious! I ate a lot of these!
Next there is the scone layer. These were impressively large scones, served with clotted cream and jam.
Finally there was the cake layer. This comprised of the ‘Fluffy One’ a Christmas pudding choux, The ‘Rich One’, a mini chocolate orange cheesecake, the ‘Fruity One’, a mince pie frangipane with brandy butter frosting. And finally, the ‘Cherry on the Top’ – a black forest layer cake.
Of course there were lots of different teas to choose from as well as coffee. I’d also recommend a glass of Prosecco!
Prices for the Festive Afternoon Tea at The Milner York:
- £29.95 per person with hot beverage
- £35.95 per person with prosecco
- £39.95 per person with champagne or a chocolate cocktail
- Children’s Afternoon Tea: £12.95 per child (12 and under)
We were invited to visit and review. As always, all opinions are my own.
