We recently tried out the Cicchetti Lounge on Low Petergate. It’s right next door to La Vecchia Scuola Italian Restaurant and is part of the same group.
They run a ‘Two Courses for £17.95’ deal which is pretty good value BUT I managed to pick up a Groupon that allowed us to get this deal WITH A GLASS OF PROSECCO (felt it needed caps!) for just £22.46! Yes, you read that right £22.46 for two courses and two glasses of Prosecco for two people. Absolute bargain.
I have included a screenshot of the Groupon as I managed to get a discount on the regular price. This discount expires tomorrow but is run again every so often.
Sorry, I went off in a tangent there. Back to the actual review. You can either choose a starter and a main, or a main and a dessert. I have included photographs of the menu (at the bottom) so you can have a look at what you might choose. We went for a main course each and a dessert. My friend went for the lasagne which was huge and looked fantastic.
I went for the spaghetti carbonara which was delicious.
For pudding, my friend chose the chocolate brownie while I went for the classic tiramisu. Again both were excellent and I would have been happy paying full price for these let alone the bargain price that we actually received.
The restaurant itself is gorgeous, small but beautifully decorated and very cosy as you can see. Oh and the staff were lovely too.
We visited before the theatre but the deal is on all day and evenings which makes it an even better bargain as it’s as cheap as a lunch.
I have to say that I would recommend it even without the bargain price but the fact that it is such cracking value is really just the cherry on the top.
