Betty’s Cafe and Tea Rooms in York

6-8 St. Helen’s Square, York, YO1 8QP

Betty’s Cafe is famous in York for being elegant and traditional tea rooms.  Uniformed servers treat you with friendliness and diffidence and your tea is served from silver tea pots.  A pianist will often accompany your repast!  They also serve probably the best afternoon tea in York.

Parlormade Cafe and Scone House

1 Little Shambles, York YO1 7LY

I visited Parlormade Cafe and Scone House recently and thought it was marvellous.  It’s small and cute and quirky and serves the most divine looking scones on lovely bright crockery.  The building it’s housed in is 15th century and absolutely perfect for a chat with friends and a relax during your day.  Not specifically tea rooms but serve a lovely large pot of tea.
