Over half term we took the kids along to try the famous YorkyPud Wrap from the York Roast Co. Now, it’s another one of those places that I have passed, many, many times, marvelled at the queue, but not visited! I’ve seen the Yorky Pud wrap mentioned many times (and have thought what a good idea it was) but had never tried one, until now!
There is a large board outside advertising what they sell – which includes sandwiches, the YorkyPud wrap, a giant Yorkshire pudding filled with a roast dinner or a ‘Naked’ roast (with no Yorkshire Pudding – sacrilege!).
As I mentioned, we tried out the YorkiePud wrap, which is a large Yorkshire Pudding, filled with pork, beef, turkey, ham or veggies. You can choose a sauce like apple, horseradish, cranberry, English mustard or mint sauce. You also get roasted veg and gravy in your wrap. If you are not keen on the veggies, they will substitute these with roast potatoes (which had my vote!).
You queue to order your food and drinks and then you can either choose to take it away with you (the YorkyPud wrap is handy for this as it’s wrapped up like a burrito and easy to eat on the go), or you can choose to go upstairs. I assumed that it would be rammed upstairs, but actually we found a nice table in the window and it was quiet and relaxed.
You can see the wraps on our tray here (the stickers mark which type they are, based on the order on your receipt), we tried roast beef, roast turkey and roast ham.
I have to say that I was very impressed and can completely see why there is always a huge queue. It’s a really good amount of (tasty!) food. Each wrap is sizable and very filling for £8.50/£9.00. It’s nice to have the option to sit in and have proper food for (quite frankly) a similar price to McDonalds!
You can add sides like roast potatoes, or you can double up on meat for an extra £2.50. If you are looking for good, filling fast food then this is absolutely perfect for you.
We were invited to visit and review – as always all opinions expressed are my own.
