Sondheim We Remember by Pick Me Up Theatre
Theatre 41 – 41 Monkgate, York YO31 7PB
March 27-30 2024
A celebration of composer and lyricist Stephen Sondheim. Featuring music from his Broadway shows, Film scores and TV specials. Pick Me Up are thrilled to be performing this show originally planned for 2020 – before his death in 2021 – he is now our true Giant In The Sky!
Brahms: Ein deutsches Requiem
York Barbican, Saturday 23 March, 7.30pm
Join York Musical Society chorus and orchestra for an evening of music by Brahms and Dvořák. Conducted by David Pipe and featuring soloists Anita Watson (soprano) and Alex Ashworth (bass), Brahms’ beautiful requiem will be sung in German, as originally written. The programme also includes Dvořák’s exultant Te Deum and Brahms’ Academic Festival Overture.
Tickets cost between £7–26 (children under 13 with a paying adult are free) and can be purchased here or on the door on the night.
York Chocolate Festival
27th to the 31st March 2024
York has a proud heritage in chocolate making and celebrates with a Chocolate Festival in March. The festival including the markets and demos are FREE entry. Specific events are at various prices (which can be found on the website programme). The festival market, bars, food factory and demonstrations are located on Parliament Street and St Sampson’s Square. Events such as wine tastings, dinners, trails etc are city wide.
York Unleashed Comic-Con
York Racecourse, Knavesmire, York, YO23 1EX
Sunday 3rd March 2024, 11am to 5pm
York Unleashed Comic-Con is back at York Racecourse hosting another fun and friendly celebration of all things geeky! This is the big one!
On all 6 floors of the Knavesmire Stand, it’s the perfect day out for all the family as it is filled to the brim with media guests. There will also be movie scene attractions, costume characters, movie vehicles and so much more for you to enjoy!
York Unleashed has been designed to bring out the mega fan in everyone and there will be plenty of opportunities for those new to the convention scene and for seasoned con-goers to have fun and explore a range of pop culture interests such as superheroes, anime, manga, horror, gaming and Disney. There is everything from Lego to wrestlers, dinosaurs to Ghostbusters…..for Star Wars fans we also have the man behind Yak Face, Sean Crawford, for you to meet!
Advance entry 10am with an advance ticket. Advance tickets are £12 per adult, £6 for Under 16’s.
General entry tickets can be purchased on the door from 11am on the day of the event. These are £10 per person, and discounted rate of £5 for under 16s. (Please note, we take cash only on the door). General entry tickets cannot be pre-booked.

Candlelit Concerts – Candlelit Buble
St Olaves Church, York
Saturday March 9th 2024 8PM to 9PM
Fancy being serenaded by Buble by candlelight? Treat your loved ones this Mothers day with a night of magical music set in a stunning backdrop of 1000 candles. Performed by Jamie Flanagan, one of the worlds leading Michael Buble tribute acts, listen to old classics and new in the atmospheric setting of the Q church York.

Kids Dig York
Young people in York will have a unique opportunity to get their hands dirty and uncover hidden parts of the city’s past, as Kids Dig York returns. From 25 March to 6 April, children aged 8 to 12 can join a real dig alongside experts from York Archaeology at Willow House, just inside Walmgate Bar, for three-hour hands-on sessions.

York Restaurant Week is a “celebration of the vibrant food and drink scene in York city centre. For a whole week restaurants, cafés, pubs, bars, hotels, and street food vendors offer fantastic fantastic savings on set menus all priced at £5, £10, £15, £20 or £30.
