There is a new Italian restaurant in town – Pranzo on Church Street (where the old Yo! Sushi) used to be. It’s an independent with sister restaurants in Harrogate, Ilkley and Horsforth. It’s a stunning and elegant restaurant with comfortable seating that really gives off a welcoming vibe – partly to do with its friendly staff I think.
We visited last weekend for Sunday lunch with the teenagers. Based on lots of the other tables, Sunday is clearly family day, not just with kids you understand, lots of tables were multi-generational. The restaurant has a nice cosy feel where you could take your kids and grandma and everyone be happy!
We were served by ‘Tristan’ who was lovely. My eldest is called Tristan too, and we don’t meet many others, so it was rather fun. He was friendly and efficient with a perfect personality for his role.
We were sat in a large circular booth (regular readers will know how much I love a booth!), overlooking a busy Church Street, perfect for people watching.
The teens were not keen on the idea of Sunday dinner (the fools) but did order some interesting Italian dishes. Eldest teen ordered Scoglio (bigoli, tiger prawns, squid, mussels, garlic, cherry tomatoes, parsley butter, pangrattato). He enjoys seafood so was thrilled to see it on the menu.
Youngest teen played more safe with Cannelloni al forno (baked cannelloni filled with goats cheese,
sun dried tomatoes, basil pesto, melted provolone, parmesan). Judging by the subsequent empty plate, this went down well.
Hubby and I, of course, chose from the Sunday Roast menu. Hubby decided upon the Roast porchetta (stuffed with Italian herbs & fennel sausage).
While I went for the Prime Yorkshire Beef (which I always do, given the option!) served with bone marrow gravy. Both roast dinners came with rosemary potatoes, honey roasted heritage carrots, buttered seasonal greens, roast garlic and Yorkshire pudding. If you are a meat lover you will be thrilled with the amount of roast beef you will be served as you can see!
Desserts were similarly generous and we tried the Tiramisu:
The Profiterole Gigante:
Brownie al Cioccolato:
And this fabulous looking thing, which was mine – the cheesecake al limoncello:
And, I always like to share menus, so here you will find the dessert menu:

We were invited to visit Pranzo York for the purposes of this review. As always, all opinions expressed are my own.
