Dyl’s is a contemporary café & bar situated in the iconic Motor House on Skeldergate Bridge, overlooking the River Ouse and Clifford’s Tower. The brunch menu includes such loveliness as a Vegetarian Three Cheese and Jalapeno Kicker, Vegan Blueberry Overnight Oats, Vegan Smashed Avocado, Coriander & Chilli and Homemade Cinnamon Brioche French Toast.
It’s a gorgeous, quirky building too! We recently visited and I can recommend the ‘three cheese & jalapeno kicker with caramelised onion chutney served on Haxby sourdough’ – completely recommend it, it was divine!

Ambiente Tapas has lots of vegetarian and vegan tapas, like ‘Blue cheese & caramelised walnut stuffed portobello mushrooms’, ‘Triple cooked sagitta potatoes served with aïoli & spicy tomato sauce’, and ‘Ambiente baked focaccia bread served with olive oil & balsamic vinegar’.
They also do a Mediterranean vegetable paella.
