We love a Moxy hotel and have stayed in the ones in Chester and Edinburgh in the past.  They are modern hotels with an emphasis on fun.

They have lots of comfortable seating in their bar and reception area, Moxy York has a photo booth with a dress up box (perfect for after your festive cocktails!!).  I have to say before I get into my review properly that the Moxy has (to my eyes anyway) a young, enthusiastic staff that were all lovely and so helpful.

We were seated on two comfortable armchairs with a low table between us and brought a large pot of gravy with a burner underneath it – fondue style.  moxy festive fondue review

Then we were brought this platter of dippable roast dinner items to share.

These included breaded goujons with cranberry sauce:

Roast potatoes:

Yorkshire puddings (I recommend breaking these up before dipping, unless you want a gravy lake down your top!)

Pigs in blankets and pickled red cabbage:

Stuffing balls (yum) and sprouts (yuk – in general – I am sure Moxy’s sprouts were very nice – but I didn’t try them, because – yuk.  I did eat the bacon on them though!) :

We also tried out some very nice festive cocktails. I loved this Spiced Pear Spritz with Absolut Pear Vodka, Cinnamon Syrup, Prosecco and Soda Water, garnished with a cinnamon stick (was REALLY nice, and I am tempted to make this one at home!)

A Gingerbread Old Fashioned (great for Bourbon lovers, not so much for sweet toothed folks like me).  This was made up of Four Roses Bourbon, gingerbread syrup, Angostura Bitters and a cinnamon stick.

Then we finished the meal off with what I like to think of as ‘pudding in a cocktail’, a Cappuccino Martini!  Vanilla vodka, Baileys, coffee, vanilla syrup and dusted with chocolate powder.  This was my favourite of the three (even though I loved the spiced pear).  They were very good and made it with decaf coffee for me (I have been stung by espresso martini’s before!).

Oh, and if you have room, you can indulge in a hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows!

We really like the vibe in the Moxy.  They are a dog friendly hotel and do seem to have events on like quizzes etc so definitely worth checking out.  I shall post menu photos below so you can get an idea of prices etc.

We were invited to visit and review, but as always, all opinions expressed are my own.
